When you get to a more dramatic scene, volume increases – a lot. I think this can actually work quite well *if* you’re using headphones. It just adds to the drama and action of the movie. And headphones make it easier to listen to quiet sections anyway, so you don’t have to turn up the volume of your device that much. But watching those movies on normal speakers? I agree with @<lyse https://lyse.isobeef.org/twtxt.txt>, it’s just rubbish. I end up turning the volume knob up and down and up and down … It’s much better now with that PulseAudio plugin.

It’s actually just a spotting scope for watching birds, but it also works okay-ish for astrophotography. I have an adapter for it, so I can mount my Canon EOS 600d directly.
